It was never that bad in terms of Top 7 / Bottom 7 discrepancy. The West has generally been weaker, but the studs like LA, NSH, CHI and MIN have always been elite, even winning some Championships.
I don't know man, I've always thought of the west as having about 4 strong teams like you mentioned and the rest all weak.
This 'weak' team continues to beat yours year in year out though

How would you even know how Colorado has done the last 6 years?
My team was in that group up until last year when I gave everybody away.

updated to Week 9
Philly moves up from 9th to WC1 at the expense of Montreal
Boston back to 3rd in Atlantic, Ottawa 4th
Carolina back up to 7th in the Metro - Columbus to last
Calgary overtakes Vancouver for 2nd in Pacific
Anaheim back up to 5th over San Jose who drops to 6th
no changes in the Central, although Chicago is now tied with Minnesota for points, but Minny gets the edge in wins (even though Fantrax shows Chicago first)

The West looks stacked because you guys destroy us useless plugs in the bottom of the league.
My team has gone 0-4 all but one week. Steve has beaten me 16-0-0 twice and 15-0-1 once already this season.

If you look at teams like nsh/Minny/chi/LA they do look pretty stacked. There is just a huge drop off between top 4 or 5 and the rest in the west.

since week 9:
Montreal into 8th, Philly drops out, to 9th
Pens to 2nd in Metro, Washington to 3rd
Columbus moves up to 12th from 15 overall - Fla, NJ, Car drop down
Chicago 1st in Central, Minny drops to 2nd
Jets up to 9th in West, Oilers drop to 10th
Arizona up to 12th, SJ and Ducks drop to 13 and 14
Toronto and LA still 1st and 2nd overall
