Spezza signed a four-year, $30 million extension with the Stars on Friday, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Spezza was set to become an unrestricted free agent in July, so the Stars decided to get ahead of a potential bidding role by inking the center to a long-term deal. Though his team has underachieved to this point in his first season in Dallas, Spezza has been as good as advertised, tallying four goals and 14 assists over 20 games.

I think Demers could get an increased opportunity. Dillon was already playing 20min+ and now moves to a team with Burns, Vlasic and Braun ahead of him. Demers saw his ice time drop from 19.5 last season to 18 and the Stars are pretty weak on D and is their 3rd best D behind Daley + Goli

Love this as a Dillon owner. Too much pressure in Dallas to be a top pairing guy. He will get there eventually, but having the support of a solid D cast in San Jose is the best for his career.
