Some of them may not, again look at a guy like Horton, playing in the prime of his career then suddenly he's done.

The thing is.. why overpay in a trade to then overpay the player like he was an UFA?

Had to be qualified at 6M due to the Flames offer sheet he signed last time he was RFA.

Also made the contract buy out proof and won't lose as much to escrow since his salary is 1M per year with a big bonus each year.

oh, I perfectly understand the deal from ROR point of view.

But if I am the owner of the GM who made that deal to acquire him and pay him this money, he is canned as soon as he wakes up the following morning

Actually ROR is a great two way C regardless but yes considering the projected talent in Buf and if it works out could be playing with some nice players
