Blame Pittsburgh. Not the refs. Fleury is god tier right now.

Fleury has been below .900 in 6 of 12 post seasons
You don't get to retroactively decide he's elite once he has a good one

Fleury had his worst statistical season in over a decade...and it just happened to be the season leading into an expansion draft. If you're the Penguins...would you rather protect the goalie who just lead you to back to back titles and is 10 years younger or Fleury coming off the season he just had?

I think the credit needs to go to Fleury for rebounding from a bad season and for embracing his new team and new situation and making the best of it. I'm thoroughly impressed by how he's played and with the attitude he's had during this season. He's the Conn Smythe winner regardless of who gets out of the East or whatever the results are in the Cup Final.

Honestly I think they still would have exposed Fleury over Murray even if Fleury had a great season. It just doesn't make much sense to keep the older more expensive guy with a history of being inconsistent in the playoffs over the younger cheaper guy with a small but very good sample.

Interestingly even with the tough season that Murray had, he still put up a .908 in the playoffs, which is the same as what Fleury put up in 2009 when the Pens won the cup. Fleury has 6 post seasons worse than Murray's worst year, all when he was older and more experienced than Murray.

Anyone know what Vegas odds were at the start of the season for Vegas to win the cup? I imagine it had to be close to 750-1000:1?

Briefly 500-1 then I saw 250-1 for a while, think it was 200-1 on opening night

I read that in Vegas there were approx 20 bets made at the 500:1 odds but none greater than $20. Some people have already sold there wager tickets for 3 and 4 k.

One thing i think was interesting that was said by my old friend Brian Burke, "this is the first time that the league has expanded with only 1 team". Meaning that they basically had the pick of the litter vs all other expansions being done with 2 expansion teams. He may or may not be correct but it is one angle i haven't heard.

San Jose says "hello" you old cunt. (Burke, not you Kyle)

The league actually fixed the draft so we couldn't draft Eric Lindros. Fucking Google it. You want to keep guessing why I'm bitter?

You guys upset the Wings one year though, that's kind of like making the Cup final.

I've read this multiple times and don't have a clue what it means. Go home Matt, you're drunk.
